At New Cakes, food safety and hygiene are central to the way we prepare, decorate, pack and deliver our cakes.
Our team follows food hygiene procedures designed to keep our products safe, clean and suitable for customers to enjoy. This includes careful food handling, regular cleaning, safe storage, allergen awareness and staff training.
Our Food Safety Procedures
Our food safety procedures include:
- regular hand washing;
- clean workwear and protective clothing where required;
- hairnets or suitable hair covering during food preparation;
- regular cleaning and sanitising of work surfaces and equipment;
- safe storage of ingredients and finished products;
- careful handling of cakes during preparation, decoration and packing;
- allergen awareness and cross-contamination controls;
- staff training in food hygiene procedures.
Allergens
Our kitchen handles common allergens, including gluten, milk, eggs, nuts, peanuts, soya and sulphites.
Although we take care with cleaning, preparation and ingredient handling, we do not operate an allergen-free kitchen and cross-contamination may occur.
Customers with allergies, intolerances, coeliac disease or severe dietary requirements should contact us before ordering.
Delivery and Storage
Our cakes are carefully packed for delivery and should be brought indoors as soon as they arrive.
Unless we specifically advise otherwise, cakes should be stored at room temperature in a cool, dry place. Please do not refrigerate your cake unless instructed by us, as condensation may cause colours to run, decorations to soften or the finish of the cake to deteriorate.
